Mary Garcia is the Director of Corporate & Strategic Partnerships at SMU’s Cox Latino Leadership Initiative (LLI). Launched in November 2013, the LLI is a new national center of excellence at SMU’s Cox School of Businessdesigned to help meet the nation’s growing need for corporate leaders as the economy improves and national demographics evolve. In addition, the LLI will operate to deliver management education programs, organization development services, new research-based insights and community engagement activities.

Prior to SMU, Mary served as the Sr. Diversity & Inclusion Consultant for Oracle. In this role, Mary managed and implemented the vision / mission of Oracle’s Veteran programs and initiatives which transformed strategies into results and lead change management initiatives including the launch of MAVEN (veteran’s ERG) and the Veteran Buddy Program designed to improve veteran employee retention.

Previously, Garcia held management positions focused on diversity and student affairs at the National Society for Hispanic MBA’s (NSHMBA) National Headquarters, University of North Texas, Texas Woman’s University, and the LULAC State Executive office in Texas. Additionally, she also taught in the departments of UNT Women Studies and the TWU Sociology & Social Work.

She has more than 15 years of leadership and management experience, with increasing scope and responsibility and has received numerous awards for outstanding performance. She was recently recognized with the “Top 100 Under 50 Emerging Leaders Award” by Diversity MBA. Mary Garcia earned both her M.A. and B.S. from Texas Woman’s University, where she majored in Political Science and Sociology.
