Paul M. Scorza


Paul Scorza is currently EVP & CIO of Ahold, USA, a $26 billion retail company whose brands include Stop and Shop, Giant Food, Giant Food Stores, Martin’s Food Markets and Peapod. He oversees all IT including software development, support, hardware purchase and support, networks, datacenters, and telephony. His position reports directly into the Chief Operating Officer. He sits on the Executive Board of Ahold USA, and also is a board member of the Our Family Foundation which is an Ahold USA charity organization in support of healthy living and childhood cancer. Paul also is the executive sponsor of the Abilities Business Resource Group supporting associates and family members with physical and mental challenges.

Prior to this, Paul was with IBM for 32 years. He was Vice President, Global Delivery for the IBM Global Account. In this role, he was responsible for delivery of all managed operation services for the IBM internal account across the globe. He oversaw a team of 6500 information system professionals supporting over 18,000 servers and 400,000 end users, managing a budget over $1 billion annually.

Prior to this, Paul was Vice President and Transformation Executive for Finance, Global Financing, Technical Support and Application Portfolio Management reporting to the CIO. He was responsible for the transformation of the IBM business and applications in these areas, along with defining and managing the IT spend. This includes process and IT work in each of these areas and operating the CIO as a shared service as well as driving the portfolio management of all IBM internal applications.

Before that, Paul was Vice President, Americas, Application Solutions Delivery Leader on the IBM Global Account in support of the IBM Global Financing, IBM Global Services, Enterprise Business Information, and Corporate Functions clients including Corporate HR and Corporate Finance. He was responsible for the project management, architecture, development, testing, operations and support of more than one thousand applications. His team of eight executives controlled over 2400 IBM US professionals and 3600 IBM Global Partners.

Paul began his IBM career as a programmer in Information Systems supporting IBM’s Semiconductor Manufacturing and proceeded to work as a Manufacturing Industry Specialist on the DuPont account, Sr. Programmer Manager in Financial Systems, and Solution Executive in IBM Worldwide Production Solutions. He held global responsibility for IBM Sales & Distribution’s Y2K readiness accountable for over 200,000 workstations, servers, and 4,000 applications which developed into a big part of the IBM Transformation effort. Paul worked as Director of e-business and Business Intelligence reporting managing the IT team for opportunity and finance data reporting worldwide as well as lead in the development and operations for Customer Information and all IBM Reference Information.

Paul holds a BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a combined MBA and MS in Computer Science from Marist College, NY. He has a wife and four children.
